E-governance is the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to transform the efficiency, effectiveness, transparency and accountability of informational and transactional exchanges in between the government and citizens; to empower citizens through access and use of information. Introduction of Digital Governance is a way to ensure that common citizens have equal right to be a part of the decision-making process which affect them directly or indirectly, and influence them in a manner which best improves their conditions and the quality of lives. E-governance will ensure that citizens are no longer are passive consumers of services offered to them and would transform them to play a decisive role in deciding the kind of services they want and the structure which could best provide the same.
CSM’s initiative aims at facilitating capacity building of public authorities for improving citizens' access to information. It will imbibe the use of IT for efficient information management and dissemination, to strengthen the supply side of information and at the same time use ICT based initiatives to strengthen the demand side of information that is pertinent to a broad array of services citizens expect from effective government. CSM's e-governance manifestation includes developing relationship with the private sector to promote indigenous technology development for low cost web based solutions for collaborative governance. |
